Catch Travel LLC · Last updated April 2026

Plain English first. This policy is written to be read by a human, not a lawyer. We've done our best to be specific about what we actually collect, why, and what control you have over it. If something is unclear, email us.

Who we are

The Traveler's Persona is a product of Catch Travel LLC, operating at thetravelerspersona.com. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means Catch Travel LLC.

We build tools to help travelers understand themselves — and to help the travel industry understand travelers better. We also license our platform to travel professionals and businesses (“Partner Operators”) who use it to serve their own clients. This policy applies to all uses of the platform, including white-label and co-branded instances operated by our partners.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. If you sign in with Google, we also receive a profile photo URL from Google. We do not store your Google password — authentication is handled by Google directly.

Quiz answers and your persona result

When you take the quiz, we store your responses and the resulting 4-letter persona code (e.g. RDTI). Your answers are linked to your account if you're signed in, or stored anonymously if you complete the quiz without an account.

Your persona code and type name are designed to be shared — that's the point. The underlying answers that produce your result are not shared with third parties.

Travel profile (optional)

If you choose to build a Travel Profile, we store the information you provide: destinations you've visited or want to visit, experience preferences, travel style notes, and your Wanderlist (saved experiences). This information is private by default and is used to power your personalized recommendations and trip planning features.

Experience reactions

When you interact with recommended experiences — marking a place as “been there,” saving it to your Wanderlist, or rating it — we store those signals against your account. These reactions are used to improve your recommendations and, in aggregate and anonymized form, to calibrate the platform's scoring model.

Community flags (optional and sensitive)

Your Travel Profile may include voluntary self-identification flags — for example, LGBTQ+ traveler, solo female traveler, or senior traveler. These are used only to inform safety and comfort filters in recommendations. They are never shared with any partner or third party, never used for advertising, and never visible to other users. Providing them is entirely optional.

Usage and analytics data

We use Google Analytics to collect standard web analytics: pages visited, session duration, device type, general location (country/region), and click events on key interactions (such as starting the quiz or clicking a call-to-action button). Google Analytics uses cookies to track sessions across visits.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. We do not fingerprint your device or track you across other websites.

Bot detection

Our sign-in form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to detect and block automated bot activity. Turnstile may collect signals about your browser environment to make this determination. No personal information is sent to Cloudflare beyond what is necessary for bot detection. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs their processing of this data.

What we share — and what we don't

We do not sell your personal data. We do not sell email addresses, quiz answers, travel profiles, or any information that identifies you as an individual.

The following is designed to be shared, with your active participation:

  • Your persona code and type nickname, when you choose to share your result

The following is never shared outside Catch Travel LLC in identifiable form:

  • Your email address
  • Your individual quiz answers
  • Your travel history and profile details
  • Your community flags
  • Your Wanderlist and saved experiences
  • Any combination of data that could identify you personally

Aggregated and anonymized data may be shared with travel industry research partners, published in reports, or used to develop and improve commercial products. For example: “38% of quiz takers score Rigorous on dimension one,” or distribution statistics about experience preferences across persona types. This data cannot be used to identify any individual.

Partner Operators (travel agents and businesses that license our white-label platform) may, as part of their licensed use, see the persona codes of the clients who take the quiz through their branded instance. This is the intended function of the B2B product — a travel agent learns their client's traveler type. Partner Operators do not receive quiz answers, travel profile details, email addresses, community flags, or any other personal data beyond the persona code, unless the user has explicitly provided that information through the partner's own interface.

Partner Operators are bound by a data processing agreement with Catch Travel LLC and are prohibited from using persona data for advertising profiling, resale, or purposes outside the licensed travel advisory use.

How we use your information

  • To show you your persona result and maintain your account
  • To generate personalized travel recommendations based on your profile
  • To power Wanderlist, trip planning, and destination tracking features
  • To send transactional emails (sign-in links, account notifications) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in
  • To improve and calibrate the quiz and recommendation models over time, using aggregated response patterns and experience reaction data
  • To measure product performance and feature usage via analytics
  • To develop commercial products and partnerships using anonymized, aggregate insights about traveler behavior and preferences
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform and understand how it's used. Specifically:

  • Session cookies — required for authentication. Set by Auth.js and expire when you close your browser or sign out.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure usage. These persist across sessions and can be opted out of via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser settings.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any tracking that follows you across other websites.

AI and your data

Certain features use AI models (currently Claude by Anthropic) to generate personalized recommendations and content. When you use these features, relevant parts of your travel profile — your persona code, experience preferences, and destination history — may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Community flags and raw quiz answers are never sent.

Quiz response data may be analyzed in aggregate and anonymized form to improve the scoring model. Individual answers are not sent to any AI service for individual-level analysis without your knowledge.

Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API data. We do not authorize Anthropic to use your data to train their models.

Third-party services and data processors

Your rights and choices

You can, at any time:

  • View your data — your persona result, travel profile, and account information are available in your account settings
  • Correct your data — edit any part of your travel profile or account details at any time
  • Delete your account — deleting your account removes your email, quiz answers, travel profile, Wanderlist, and experience reactions from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized data (e.g. persona code with no identifying link) may be retained for calibration and research purposes.
  • Export your data — email us to request a copy of everything we hold about you, in a readable format
  • Opt out of analytics — use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser's cookie controls

Historical quiz data (pre-2024)

If you took an earlier version of this quiz at dontgo.travel before 2024, your result may be in our database as part of a historical import. These records are linked to a pseudonymous identifier (an OAuth provider ID), not to an email address or name.

If you believe your historical result is in our system and would like it identified or deleted, email us with details and we will locate and remove it.

How long we keep your data

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized quiz and behavioral data may be retained indefinitely for research, calibration, and product development purposes.

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings (14 months by default). Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
